SUMMARY:Crisis Intervention Training #1850
DESCRIPTION:Event Phone: 254-383-5188 \nRequired of all Peace Officers first licensed on or after 04/01/2018 within 2 years of licensing date – unless course was included in BPOC\, and every four year cycle thereafter until Intermediate Proficiency Certification; and for those Peace Officers/JPs that want to pursue an MHO certification. \nThis course discusses history and implementation of crisis intervention; familiarity with substance use disorder; intellectual developmental disabilities & cognitive disorders; common mental health conditions that law enforcement is most likely to encounter and how to engage them with de-escalation and rapport building skills; encounters with suicidal individuals; and legalities of  law enforcement and mental health components (statutes\, NEDs\, local hospitals\, local issues). This class focuses specifically on how and where to take a person in crisis. Scenario role play & assessments will be required to successfully pass this course. This is a 40-hour course. #1850 or #3843 Mandated in current 4-year training cycle. \nClass is taught by Eric Fox with Central Counties Services.  TCOLE credit will be given by Coryell County Sheriff’s Office.

DESCRIPTION:Event Phone: 254-383-5188 \n*Required for MHO certification. One requirement to certify currently TCOLE appointed jailers\, peace officers\, and Justices of Peace to be a resource for other officers or agencies statewide who are responding to a mental health crisis and may need aid navigating the area resources and state statutes. There is a required knowledge check for registrants. \nRequired Items for Class: Students need to bring a laptop or MDT (Wi-Fi provided) that can access the internet and a USB drive. \nRequirements for MHO certification: \n\n2 years licensed experience as Jailer\, Peace Officer\, or Justice of Peace\nCPR/First Aid (Red Cross/American Heart Association or equivalent)\nDe-Escalation #1849 AND\nCrisis Intervention Training for all certifications (Peace Officer: TCOLE 1850) or Mental Health for Jailers (Jailer #4900)\nCIT equivalents for de-escalation & Crisis Intervention Training would be included in BPOC Courses# 1000667\, #1000696\, #1000720 for peace officers.\nMental Health Officer #4201\n\nClass is taught by Eric Fox with Central Counties Services.  TCOLE credit will be reported by Coryell County Sheriff’s Office.
